14 Ways To Make The 25th Of December Feel Truly Special
This festive season is about stepping into a headspace that is calming, romantic, and without haste or pressure.
It’s about realising that the day doesn’t have to be filled with countless activities in order to feel special and be joyful.
Christmas is often labelled and cherished as a day where love, family and kindness should be brought to the forefront, but the sincerity of this tends to get lost in the rush of shopping, planning and commercial distractions.
Nevertheless, the day is as beautiful as you believe it to be.
So whether you regard it as just another day, a special day or something in between, there is no hurt in curating a sweet, delightful day for the pretty princess you are.
Here are 14 easy ways to make Christmas Day feel truly special.
Let’s Dive In :)

1. Wake Up Early With A Song In The Air
Excitement alone tends to make me wake up early…well, that and my poor sleeping habits (which I am working on by the way :).
Nevertheless, waking up early makes the day feel a little longer and encourages you to slow down and admire what a new, gorgeous chapter that life has to offer.
Alongside this, turn on a Christmas playlist that will completely elevate your mood and make you feel childlike and whimsical again.
2. Get Dressed In Your Cosy Christmas Pyjamas
This year, if you don’t already, be a little cheesy!
Get matching pyjamas with the family or pick a colour that everyone has to stick to when it comes to dressing up.
It’s not only cute and fun, but it will capture the beauty of the day very well when the camera comes on.
Your Christmas Day album this year will look amazing. Trust me.
3 Show Off All Your Scented Christmas Candles
I love the idea of every room in the house having a different Christmas scent as I walk past.
Imagine, the first smell that hits your nose is the sweet scent of warm bakery sweet goodies, and as you head to your living room, a type of fruity dessert sweet scent calls your name, accompanied by a vanilla sugar sweet scent that makes your mouth water when you breeze past your kitchen.
Here are some candles that would fit this festive occasion beautifully:
Warm bakery sweet: Yankee Candle - Vanilla Cupcake
Fruity dessert sweet: Bath & Body Works - Strawberry Pound Cake
Vanilla sugar sweet: DW Home - Vanilla Bean

4. Don’t Be Shy….Open Those Presents!
I have not grown out of the excitement of opening presents, that's for sure.
However, the joy I feel when my loved ones open their own is truly unmatched.
Alongside getting gifts for family and friends, get a small gift or a card for someone who wouldn’t expect a gift from you. Think of them in this season and gently remind them that they’re loved, too.
And also, don’t forget to wrap a small gift for yourself as well.
5. Take An Extra Moment To Make Breakfast Sweetly Divine
Interestingly enough, my family and I don’t typically eat breakfast on Christmas because everyone’s energy is put entirely into making our Christmas dinner amazing.
However, this year, I’m craving something new, and since we’ll be having Christmas with another family, this will spare us from cooking Christmas dinner, making it the perfect opportunity to put our efforts into romanticising breakfast time.
Try these Christmas brunch ideas:
Lay out the table with scrambled eggs, pancakes, sausages, cheese-filled butter, croissants and fruit salad.
Create a fresh brew of hot chocolate or stick to the classic, orange juice!
6. Snuggle Up With Some Hot Chocolate & Sweet Popcorn While Watching A Christmas Classic
If there’s a task that we never forget to do on Christmas, it’s this.
Everyone in the living room, some lying on the sofa, some sitting on the floor, all eyes glued to the TV.
If you have a family like mine, then complaining about the plot or decisions the characters make is a must, and for me is the cherry on top.
7. Record A Clumsy Little Christmas Vlog For Memories
It doesn't have to be perfect; it doesn't even have to include speaking if you don’t want to (although I would highly encourage you to).
Record the exciting moments, record the mundane moments. Get a good scene of the food. Record the decorations, the awkwardness of family members, and the boldness of children.
This is all about capturing realness, genuine expressions and real-time emotions.
5 little moments to include in your Christmas vlog:
A shot of you and others opening presents
Clips of your Christmas breakfast and dinner table set-up
Clips showing everyone’s outfits
A clip of the Christmas tree and decorations
Clips of the games and other off-guard moments
8. Get A Little Competitive With Games
I suppose the easiest way to do this is with board games.
I love seeing families get together and truly enjoy every moment of it.
I love to hear the sarcasm, the teasing, the borderline offensive banter and just everyone having a jolly good time trying to win at cards or ludo.
Real laughter comes through, and no one wants the moment to end.
Games to play this Christmas:
Christmas Bingo
Christmas Kahoot
Christmas Charades
Pass the parcel
Monopoly
Jenga
Scrabble
Dobble
Uno
Connect 4
Snakes & Ladder
Ludo
Dominoes
9. Get Everyone Involved In A Creative Task
Christmas is also the time when I can finally force my mom to join in on things that she just wouldn't normally do, all by saying, “But Mom, it's Christmas.”
Whether it’s Christmas karaoke, painting, clay making, or listening to a PowerPoint presentation I made, it’s always fun to share hobbies with friends and family.
Maybe this year, I'll teach her how to play video games :)
10. Wish Others A Merry Christmas
One of the reasons Christmas seems to feel lacking on the actual day is because we forgot to properly welcome it in.
Think, how many cards have you written up to others before December 25th?
How many people have you wished a merry Christmas to?
How many Christmas shows have you watched to get yourself in that festive spirit?
Yes, I'm guilty too and no, it’s definitely not a chore, but the day feels great when you know you've done quite a bit to make this season feel warm and intentional for the new year.

11. Don’t Forget That Christmas Photoshoot
I realise that I don’t take as many photos as I should when the holiday season comes around, or in general, to be fair.
I understand that it’s no big deal, but I also want to look back and smile at times when things were good and calm, and it’s great to have a visual reminder of that.
After all, we’re not getting any younger and tomorrow isn’t promised to anyone.
12. Go On A Christmas Evening Walk Together
With your hot chocolate or bubble tea in hand, walk around your neighbourhood, admiring the beautifully decorated houses and streets.
Strike a pose and fill your camera storage with hundreds of amazing memories.
13. End The Day With Small Acts Of Self-Care
Your small acts of self-care could include:
Giving yourself a manicure
Foot care
Facial skincare
Journaling
14. Take A Moment To Reconnect With Christ In Prayer
Though the Bible doesn’t exactly specify the day Jesus was born, acknowledging that he was born and is risen is an amazing thing to recognise and to remind ourselves each Christmas.
This year, don’t just focus on the aesthetic beauty that this holiday season displays; go a bit deeper to understand why we rejoice.
Here are some ways you can connect more spiritually to God starting today:
Read over the story of Jesus’ birth (Luke 2)
Write a gratitude list of what God has given you this year
Write a prayer request for 2026 (detail your worries and hopes)
Pray with family
